Live recording at the North Carolina Folklife Festival of a blues workshop, including James ("Guitar Slim") Stephens (1915- ), African- American guitar and piano player from Wake County, N.C.; James Borders, African-American bones player from Statesville, N.C.; and Thomas Burt (1900-1987), African-American blues guitar player from Creedmoor, N.C., led by Glenn Hinson. Live recording at the same festival of a performance of old-time fiddle tunes by Tommy Jarrell (1901-1985), Anglo-American fiddler from Mt. Airy, N.C., with backup musicians Larry Flippen playing guitar and Blanton Owen playing banjo.
